Stress incontinence occurs when weakened pelvic floor muscles allow the bladder neck and urethra to drop, and it can be corrected with various types of surgeries. With these surgeries, the urethra, the bladder, or both can be lifted into the normal position. Sneezing, coughing, and laughing are then less likely to cause the bladder to leak. If treatments like pelvic floor muscle exercises have not worked, you can look into incontinence surgery.
